St. Bernadette’s Parish
Child Protection Policy Statement
As a Christian faith community, we in St. Bernadette’s Parish mindful of the great respect and love shown by Christ to children in his ministry, actively encourage and value the participation of children and young people in the life of the Church. Through parish liturgies and other activities we endeavour to enhance their spiritual, emotional, physical and social development. We recognise the dignity and rights of all children and young people and are committed to their support and protection.
In light of this policy we will work to do all in our power to create safe environments for children and young people so as to ensure their protection and enable full participation in the life of our parish and Church.
The legal principal that the welfare of the child is paramount means that considerations of confidentiality should not be allowed to override the rights of children and young people to be protected from harm.
